Biography

Katrina Couture is a Toronto-based abstract painter whose work explores psychological interior landscapes through layered oil and plaster surfaces. Her paintings investigate memory, perception, and the quiet shifts in identity that occur over time.

Working primarily on large-scale canvases, Couture creates tactile surfaces that shift with light and perspective, making the work particularly suited to architectural and interior environments.

Couture holds an MBA and maintains an active studio practice in Toronto. Her background in science informs her sensitivity to material, structure, and process.

“Painting is the excavation of what the psyche cannot articulate.”

My work operates in the space between consciousness and matter. I am drawn to what exists before words. Through layering, removal, and deliberate intervention, the painting becomes a record of psychological movement.

What emerges is not accidental. It is discovered.
